Steel & Stilettos Fitness Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to wear heels? ​​​​​
No, participants do not have to wear heels to enjoy the benefits of Steel and Stilettos Fitness™.  The use of the heel will increase balance and core strength, but it is not a requirement. 


What is a sensible heel?  
A sensible heel is shoe that fits comfortably and the participant can safely walk in for up to 20 minutes. The heel should be in good repair with a non-slip sole, to avoid any accidents or injuries.  We strongly recommend that heels do not exceed 3 inches. 


What do I need to bring to class?  
Please bring an exercise mat, towel, water and a sensible heel.  We also recommend bringing a secondary pair of heels just in case you would like to change into a pair more comfortable. 


Why do I need a mat? 
A third of the class is done on the floor. The floor exercises target the lower half of the body using strength and stretching for amazing results. 


Will I dance in heels?  
Yes there are very simple dance moved introduced in a Steel and Stilettos Fitness™ class; however the primary activity is strength training of the core and leg muscles.  You do not have to know how to dance to successfully participate in a SAS class. 


What if I do not feel comfortable in my shoes? 
The Steel and Stilettos Fitness Instructor (SASI) will give you instructions on how and where to safely remove your heels and get back into class.  Steel and Stilettos Fitness™ aims to build confidence and strength, not force you into an uncomfortable situation.  You can work at your own pace and fitness level without being judged.
